Nursery care will not be available and Youth and Children’s classes won’t meet, but Youth are encouraged to come and listen to Donald Miller speak.
Donald Miller appeals to a new generation of Christians who have grown up with some exposure to Jesus and Christianity, but who have also learned not to trust well-meaning Christians. One of the young ladies who works at Lifeway bookstore here in Tyler said that Donald Miller’s book, BLUE LIKE JAZZ, was the reason she started going back to church. Many people these days are giving church another chance. It just so happens that we will have many of them with us at Glenwood on Wednesday night, November 11.
We are asking the members of Glenwood to help host an event that will draw people back to the Lord. As gracious hosts, we want to make room for parking, as well as space in our worship center. Here are some ideas to help make that happen:
First, our neighbors at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church on Kinsey have agreed to let us use their parking lot. If our members will share rides and carpool over to Glenwood, and/or park in the back parking lot at Glenwood behind the gym, that will help a great deal. Then once inside, let the ushers know if you are willing to sit in the balcony, and they will seat Glenwood members there first.
Second, we will use ushers to seat people after everyone in their party has arrived. With the numbers expected at this event, people will not be allowed to block off rows or save seats.
Third, use this as an opportunity to invite friends you know who may not go to church at all. Donald Miller is able to speak in a way that resonates particularly with people who are skeptical of coming into places like our church building.
Most important, please pray for this event that God may use us at Glenwood to be a welcoming place, both to our community, and especially to those who are hungry for the Lord.
