Area Vocal Groups Come Together for Free Community Concert
From Classical to Jazz, Barbershop to Gospel, area vocal groups of all sizes and genres come together to celebrate the beauty and magic of the human voice at the East Texas A Cappella Celebration. The free community concert will be held this Saturday, April 10, at 6 P.M., in the Glenwood Church of Christ auditorium. Participating groups include The Blessing (women’s contemporary worship), Clearly Vocal (five-voice vocal jazz), Faithful Praise (gospel), John Tyler High School Choir, Then & Now (barbershop quartet), TJC A Cappella Choir and UT Tyler Patriot Singers. Performers will combine for a grand finale, conducted by Dr. Cameron Rose, Director of Choral Activities for the University of Texas at Tyler. The event is presented as a partnership between UT Tyler and Clearly Vocal.
Dr. Cameron Rose is an active conductor, composer and arranger across a wide spectrum of music. He received his Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Utah, under the direction of Brady Allred, where he served as assistant conductor, composer, and accompanist for the University of Utah Singers and A Cappella Choir. In 2008, Dr. Rose was named the Director of Choral Activities at UT Tyler where he currently conducts the Patriot Singers and University Chorale. He also conducts the East Texas Symphony Chorus.
Clearly Vocal is a five-member a cappella vocal group from Tyler, Texas, performing a wide range of musical genres, including jazz, pop, holiday, love songs, classical, secular and sacred. They were recently selected as one of seven groups to compete in the 2010 Rocky Mountain Harmony Sweepstakes in Denver, Colorado. Clearly Vocal provides music for all occasions, such as private parties, corporate functions, weddings, birthdays, etc., with a varied repertoire in the style of The Manhattan Transfer, New York Voices, The Real Group, Singers Unlimited, The Swingle Singers, Take Six and others.
