A new class will be offered this fall called “Glenwood Membership Matters”.
One key goal of the class is to assist attendees in identifying their spiritual gifts and work interests. This will be a 13 week class that begins this fall. A sign-up sheet for this class will be available in the Foyer in front of the Worship Center.

For more information, please contact Tommy Gilbreath, Dewayne Manning, or Chris Neel.

Psalm 91 begins with these verses: “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. They say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

As Glenwood’s Season of Transition continues, the elders want to assure you that trusting in God to work through us and in us and for us is still our best course of action. This congregation has been extremely blessed by several groups of people during these months, including:

A. Our short-handed ministry and support staff who have worked extremely hard to help us maintain the level of ministry and equipping and caring that we are known for.
B. Our guest speakers who have ministered to us through the sermons and lessons that God has placed on their hearts for us.
C. Our young summer interns who have shouldered huge responsibilities and provided much-needed leadership of our Children’s Ministry and Youth Ministry programs.
D. And, the dozens of volunteers who have stepped up their involvement to serve on the Search Teams, to teach classes, to welcome visitors, to care for the hurting, and to lead in ministry to our children and youth group.

At this time, the Preaching Minister Search Team has reviewed recommendations and information on dozens of prospects and is in the process of interviewing viable candidates. The Children’s Minister Search Team has done a large amount of research and has prepared a survey to receive congregational input about our ministry to the younger members of the Glenwood family.

Recently, the decision has been made to form a Search Team for the Youth Minister position, based on input we received from the congregation. On an interim basis, the Youth Ministry leadership has been organized from a combination of experienced volunteers, elders, ministry staff and committed parents to form a Task Force to ensure this ministry continues to function well during the next several months. Likewise, the Children’s Ministry is being coordinated by volunteers and staff who are fully devoted to loving and ministering to our children.

Despite the uncertainties, Glenwood continues to attract new families to our membership, attendance and contributions continue to meet or exceed prior years’ levels for these summer months, and our new and existing ministries continue to thrive. We ask you to continue to pray and to work for the unity of this body. We are eagerly looking forward to the time when we will again be fully staffed, but this Season has reminded us that all will be well when we place our complete trust in the LORD! Grace and peace to all!

Please consider attending the Journey to Generosity this Saturday, May 1, 9 A.M. – 1 P.M., in the Gathering Place.

Living a life of generosity is a process and a journey. Many of us want to be generous people, but we do not always know where to begin. If you want to move farther on the journey toward generosity, then we encourage you to join us on Saturday. We will look at practical ways to manage finances, look at testimonies from those who are embracing lives of generosity and spend time focusing on ways God is leading us toward lives of good fruit.

This seminar will be presented by Rick Carder, Minister of Life Stewardship at Richland Hills Church of Christ. Child care will be provided. Cost is $10 per person or $15 per couple, but please don’t let the cost keep you from attending. For more information or to register, visit www.glenwoodchurch.com > Events > The Journey to Generosity. Please contact Ben Siburt if you have any questions.

This is the sixth Sunday built around our 40 days of prayer and fasting.
Week 1- Wayne Propst urged us in our transition time to recognize The Blessing of God that can occur while we pray and fast. Especially in the fast paced world we live in, we should be still and wait before our God and know He is with us.
Week 2- Dewayne Manning urged us to let our time of approaching Gods be without any agenda and to sincerely seek The Voice of God
Week 3- Reggie Howell asked us as the People of God to put away our frantic busyness of schedules and empty ourselves so we can be truly be God’s people.
Week 4- Gregg Grubb reminded us that God’s Spirit is poured out on all of His people and throughout history it is God’s Spirit that enters our lives and when that happens everything changes.
Week 5- Wayne helped us to look at the kind of leadership that we seek is one that reflects the one true and living God.

You know the ONE

The same God that delivered Israel from Egyptian bondage. The One and only God that stayed the hand of Abraham from sacrificing his son because Our God had a plan and was willing to ask his perfect son Jesus to die once and for all to reconcile us to him.
You know the ONE- They call him Jesus, his name is the name above every name, and His name is wonderful, counselor, Prince of Peace.
As of this Thursday we will have had 40 days to ponder our wonderful creator. So today, let us recognize the Blessing of God and like David praise our God today and every day.
Listen to Psalm 103:

1 Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. 2 Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits- 3 who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, 4 who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, 5 who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. 6 The LORD works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed. 7 He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel: 8 The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. 9 He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; 10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. 11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; 12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. 13 As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him; 14 for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust. 15 As for man, his days are like grass, he flourishes like a flower of the field; 16 the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. 17 But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children- 18 with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts. 19 The LORD has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all. 20 Praise the LORD, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word. 21 Praise the LORD, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will. 22 Praise the LORD, all his works everywhere in his dominion. Praise the LORD, O my soul.

There is nothing left for us to do but to worship Our God as it is His Blessing.

Bill Chambers

Glenwood will present a seminar

‘The Journey to Generosity’ Saturday, May 1

9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Gathering Place.

Generosity is a journey. Nobody ever comes to a place in their life and says, “I’m generous, now what can I work on?” With generosity, there is no destination. Although, we know generosity is much more than money, finances play a major role in determining where our hearts truly are – therefore, financial generosity will be a main point of discussion. It is my hope and desire to encourage those who are not on a journey, to put the habits in place in their lives so they can live generously and to encourage those on a journey of generosity to move further along. As Hebrews 10:24 says, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.”

This seminar will be presented by Rick Carder, Minister of Life Stewardship at Richland Hills Church of Christ. Child care will be provided. You must register any children so we have a count for babysitters. (No meals will be provided). We look forward to your attendance. Please contact Ben Siburt if you have any questions.
